A journey into Crete music

Crete music live

We will make a journey into Crete music,

First we will spend some time to know each other and after i will make you a presentation with the traditional instruments of Crete, the origin of Cretan music and instruments with historical facts and myths of Greek mythology for Lyra.

After we will watch videos with dances of Crete and dancers in traditional costumes that I will give you information about them ! If you want to try i can show you the basic steps of three cretan dances!

Also we will discuss about the type of dances(siganos,syrtos,maleviziotis,pentozalis) and songs(mantinades, tabachaniotina, kontilies,kantadha,rizitika).

After its time for music! Artists will start playing hearing by some of best Cretan musicians creators tracks, from the past 1900, like Piperakis, Karavitis, Skordalos and Moudakis, until now days and how is evolving with the new generation of Cretan musicians. We will explore also music through Crete’s geography, we will discover differences between areas and how and why they have this influences!

Between live music we will talk about every day living of Cretan people and answer questions that you might have. Also if you want to learn more about Cretan music i can send you music files from my collection of 25000 Cretan songs and 300 artists! Also a video playlist will be shared after.

Cretan music is one of my passions and gave me incredible moments and knowledge! I want share my knowledge with other people and help you have access in that!

Taking place : We can arrange it in one of our traditional houses up in mountain at 1000 meters altitude. Or in a villa, restaurant, taverna or in a place of your decision.

Duration : 3 hours and 30 minutes (30 min presentation, 3 hours music)
