Live the Spirit of Crete at a Metochi - Music & Culture Experience

Step into the soul of Crete with an evening of music, food, and tradition in a mountain Metochi (shepherd’s house). This is more than a meal — it’s an authentic celebration of “parea” (togetherness) and local life.

What You’ll Do:

  • Visit a traditional Metochi high in the mountains and learn how shepherd families once lived, their traditions, and daily way of life.

  • Pause at the Katharo Plateau for a coffee or soft drink before returning to the Metochi to prepare a fresh Cretan salad and appetizers.

  • Enjoy a delicious Cretan meal (cooking and taking part in preparation - from a local) with wine, raki, and authentic flavors of the island.

  • Experience the magic of live Cretan music with two musicians (lyra, lute, mandolin, askomandoura, bouzouki, bulgari, cretan drum) performing for three hours. Learn about local songs, the meaning of the lyrics, and the art of the mandinada.

  • If you love dancing, we’ll guide you through the basic steps of traditional Cretan dances—then join in and celebrate together!
